a Hewing -Axe and draw knife then hand sanded to bring out all the original natural character and beauty found in the feather grain area of this wood, When a  branch  grows out of the trunk of a  tree you will find a natural  strengthening of the whole area as the two wood fibers combine this is  what  gives you  that unique pattern found in this walking cane,
I used my hewing axe to expose and  enhance more of the unique feather grain area of this walking cane,
To highlight the  hand hewn appearance I put several coats of wipe-on clear satin Tung oil finish to seal and enhance all of the natural  dark chocolate color found in this one of a kind walking cane.
There is nothing quite like a good piece of native American DARK black walnut famous for its strength to act as a third leg for assisted support while walking with Multiple Sclerosis ,because of leg injuries, arthritis, debilitating injury or illness, or as assistance while on your Southern Alleghenies mountains country hike.
